A collection of policy, advocacy, research, strategy, and social work projects demonstrating the application of my academic training and professional experience to real-world issues.
My internship with NASW provided hands-on experience in macro social work, policy research, legislative advocacy, community engagement, and organizational strategy. The projects below highlight selected research, advocacy, communication, and policy initiatives completed throughout my field experience.
STRATEGIC COMMUNICATION
Social Media Strategy
NASW TX & LA MEMBER ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY
A short-form video produced as part of a social media strategy supporting NASW chapter communication across Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. The project addressed the need to reach members and the wider community with accessible, visually engaging content rather than text-heavy announcements.

HEALTHCARE POLICY
Corporate Practice of Behavioral Health
NASW LOUISIANA CHAPTER
A policy project arguing that Louisiana should extend a corporate practice doctrine to behavioral health so that clinical decisions remain with licensed professionals rather than non-licensed or profit-driven entities. The work documents the state's behavioral health workforce shortages, the growth of private equity in health care, and lessons from dentistry where uneven protections weakened professional autonomy.

LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY
AI in Mental Health Policy
NASW LOUISIANA CHAPTER
An advocacy project supporting Louisiana Senate Bill 5, which sets guardrails for the use of artificial intelligence in mental and behavioral health services. The work frames the risks of unregulated AI in clinical settings, including harmful chatbot responses, emotional dependency, and misuse of sensitive mental health data, and outlines the protections SB 5 would create.
A research and advocacy campaign on Louisiana Revised Statute 17:421.10, which authorizes a $5,000 annual salary supplement for certified school social workers but has gone unfunded and largely unknown since 2009. The project pairs a committee policy brief with public-facing campaign graphics.
Oklahoma Legislative Outcome Report: DEI and LGBTQ+ Policy
NASW OKLAHOMA CHAPTER
A legislative tracking report reviewing bills affecting diversity, equity, and inclusion and LGBTQ+ rights. Each entry summarizes the bill, authors, final outcome, notable amendments, a recommended chapter position, and why the measure matters to social work practice, education, and client access.
Grant Research for Organizational Technology Modernization
NASW
A funding research project examining grant opportunities that could support NASW's organizational and technology modernization goals, including a national digital platform to connect chapters and improve policy and member-engagement data.

2026 State Legislative Session Reports
NASW LOUISIANA & OKLAHOMA
Comprehensive 2026 legislative session reports for the NASW Louisiana and Oklahoma Chapters. This multi-state policy research project involved tracking, verifying, and analyzing state legislation affecting social work practice, behavioral health, Medicaid and healthcare access, child welfare, education, criminal justice, public benefits, civil rights, workforce development, and emerging technology. Findings were cross-referenced with official state legislature records, gubernatorial actions, agency materials, legislative histories, committee activity, amendments, final dispositions, and reputable stakeholder sources. The reports distinguish enacted laws from failed legislation, document outcomes, analyze social work implications, and identify areas for continued advocacy and implementation monitoring.
